George Gordon, sixth Baron Byron (1788‒1824), the notorious poet; any anecdote bearing on his life in Italy with Percy Bysshe Shelly, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelly and Claire Clairmont, following the scandal of his career in London, is likely to be risqué.

Note that James based his famous long tale The Aspern papers on the idea of a literary man searching for salacious first-hand anecdotes of an early nineteenth-century poet in Italy.
