Century magazine

this title was founded in 1881, with the full title The Century illustrated monthly magazine, as a continuation of Scribner’s monthly but under an independent company, The Century Co., in New York. It kept the previous volume numbering going and thus started at vol. 23 number 1 in November 1881.
